Genesis 4:21-22
"His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play the harp and flute. 22 Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of [a] bronze and iron."
So as I read it, this is the first example of a band geek and a "metal shop" guy in recorded history.

This reference to musical things is the first traceable history of anything musical. The early manuscripts of this text are the oldest of any other mention of instruments. My first semester music history test was one question and it started like this: outline music history from Genesis 4:21 through Bach.
