The Bible often reports events without commentary, but there is no doubt that God was displeased with Jacob's lie. However, I do not equate Jacob's desire to obtain Isaac's blessing with the modern, God wants you rich mentality. In the earlier story about Jacob and Esau, it was Esau who put his temporal, material need (hunger) before the blessing of God. We are talking about the blessing of God here. In addition, many Bible commentators have remarked on how Jacob later got his comeuppance from another deceiver - Laban.

The context is good,I saw many people agree with you.me,too.I recently blogged about the prevalence of "as-seen-on-TV" brand conventions in the medical device industry, which strikes a discordant note in that environment. and now can you link my name to see my website, thanks.

This is one reason why I have emblazoned on the cover of my notebook the following statement:

"What's the story?"

That always stares me in the face whenever I take notes - it's a great thing to remembr.

With the 2009 AO 250, we sought to find the companies upon which new industries, jobs, and economies will be built. Yes, each company in its own way brings enhanced efficiencies (the gentler form of creative destruction). But more importantly, the companies represented in this list bring hope. No industry can produce jobs, wealth, and economic momentum like the technology industry. Both directly and indirectly what propels the global economy are new ideas and approaches. The AO 250 is the epicenter of the future.

let's join our hands together to stop this kind of wrong doings. It may risk lives in the future if we just let them continue.

Stuff in the Bible I didn't know was in the Bible

  • Dothan (but the Bible one, not the Alanama one)
In Genesis 37:17 Joseph (he with the coat of many colors) goes to find his brothers who are tending their sheep near "Dothan." Of all the names in the Bible, I wonder why did someone in E.A. (Early Alabama) pick an obscure reference from Genesis to name their town Dothan.
  • Stairway to Heaven
Wonder if the boys from Led Zeppelin were reading about Jacob's dream in Genesis 28:12 "...a dream in which he saw a stairway...to heaven."
  • Sodom
From Genesis Chapter 19 (especially 19:5) - evidently homosexuality was crazy rampant in the town of Sodom, which is where the word "sodomy" comes from
  • Well Golly....
The name Gomer came from Genesis 10:2. This Gomer (not the one from Mayberry) is one of Japheth's boys.
  • Nimrod
From Genesis 10:8 - "Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth." Nimrod....
  • "As old as Methusaleh..."
From Genesis 5:27 "As old as Methusaleh..." While not technically a verse in the Bible, this saying refers to the oldest guy ever known. And so I count it as a SITBIDKWITB.
  • "Brother's Keeper?"
Am I my "brother's keeper?" Found in the Bible in Genesis 4:9
  • Tigris and Euphrates
These rivers (in Iraq) are first named in the Bible in Genesis 2:14
  • "Raising Cain"
This phrase is all about Cain, son of Adam and Eve, the first murderer in the Bible. (and I guess the first of all time.)
